FREEPORT, Grand Bahama – Students who excelled in the classroom as well as in sports were celebrated on Sunday, May 5, 2019 when The 2019 MARJORIE LAING SCHOLAR ATHLETE OF THE YEAR AWARDS were presented by Grand Bahama Sports and Travel at an event was held at Bahamas Union of Teachers Hall.
The 31 student-athletes were from primary and high schools on Grand Bahama. This year’s award winners are:
Scholar Athlete of the Year (Primary Girls) — Alexis Smith, Tabernacle
Scholar Athlete of the Year (Primary Boys) — Taran Hall, Sunland
Scholar Athlete of the Year (High School Girl) — Abigail Victor, Sunland
Scholar Athlete of the Year (High School Boy) — Brahm Najman, Bishop Michael
Best Championship Performance – St.George’s Senior boys
Basketball Team Best Athletic Program — Tabernacle Baptist Track and Field
Most Likes Award — Jayln Pinder, Grand Bahama Academy
Biggest Fan Club — Aiden Miller, Tabernacle Baptist
