Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis
NASSAU, Bahamas — Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis confirmed on Saturday that the government will buy the Grand Lucayan resort in Grand Bahama, calling it “the right decision”, the Nassau Guardian said August 13.
Minnis made the revelation on a tour of public schools in New Providence.
The prime minister was asked to respond to former Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham, who said that buying the resort was a bad idea and suggested the government find alternative ways to turn Grand Bahama’s economy around.
“I won’t respond to that, but what I would say is that yes, we’ve made a decision to purchase the [Grand] Lucayan hotel,” Minnis said. “I think it’s essential for Bahamians, especially those in New Providence and through the Family Islands, to understand the makeup of the [Grand] Lucayan hotel…” https://thenassauguardian.com/2018/08/13/pm-confirms-hotel-sale-will-happen/
