NASSAU, Bahamas, July 31, 2024 — The Ministry of Youth, Sports & Culture, Division of Youth today announced the appointment of new members to the National Youth Ambassadors Corps. The selection process, which included a competitive application and interview stage, identified young leaders known for their commitment to youth service and their experience in promoting youth initiatives on both local and international levels.The newly appointed Youth Ambassadors will represent The Bahamas at various national and international forums, advocate for youth development, and participate in initiatives aimed at fostering positive change within their communities.
Mrs. Roselyn Dorsett-Horton, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Culture, addressing the new appointees, highlighted the significance of their roles.
“This ambassadorship presents numerous opportunities, and we expect you to make the most of them,” she said.
The Youth Ambassadors, who will serve from 2024 to 2026, will represent and advocate for Bahamian youth, including participation in international organizations such as the United Nations, the Commonwealth, and CARICOM.
Miss Amber Turner, who lives in Freeport, Grand Bahama and was appointed Bahamas’ Youth Ambassador to the United Nations, commented on her appointment today in a post on her Facebook page.
“I am ecstatic to announce my role as The Bahamas’ Youth Ambassador to the United Nations,” Miss Turner said. “A sustainable and equitable future for youth across our nation is the goal and this incredible opportunity enables me to further amplify youth voices & champion youth-led policies and climate change initiatives on both national & international levels. Let’s get to work.”
