FREEPORT, Grand Bahama — Surviving trustees of the Alice Sauberli Trust Fund, Brendford Christie and Dr. Mark Bruppacher donated $37,057.40 to the Grand Bahama Children’s Home during a special visit with the Minister of Social Services Frankie Campbell on Wednesday, July 31.

The two-fold visit began with Campbell touring and inspecting the entire facility, accompanied by representatives from Social Services, Ministry of Tourism and Senator Katherine Forbes-Smith, President of the Senate, who was the mastermind behind the generous donation, the Freeport News reported August 1.

Following the tour, Senator Forbes-Smith held a small ceremony giving Campbell and Christie an opportunity to bring remarks on a day they both described as heartfelt and significant.

The Minister of Social Service applauded both GBHS Executive Director Sheila Johnson-Smith and Christie for their continuity in securing proper supervision for the children.

Filled with emotion, he expressed to Johnson-Smith that her request to the public for help did not go unnoticed. “You speak a lot about the begging that you do, but you speak about it with a smile and when I look at the surroundings, everything suggests that your begging is fruitful,” said Campbell. “I want to say that it is fruitful, because the persons that you have begged are satisfied that you are doing a good thing…” http://thefreeportnews.com/news/37000-donation-for-gb-childrens-home/
