A POWERFUL, POWERFUL PRAYER

GUEST COMMENTARY: BY ANNETTE SEYMOUR

(EDITOR’S NOTE: I had just completed my daily morning devotion, during which I give thanks to my Lord and Savior for granting me another day on His earth and for being in the driver’s seat of my life, when I ran across this powerful prayer posted on Facebook this morning by Annette Seymour. I absolutely had to share it as a Guest Commentary with readers of my online publication, BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which has a huge following among Bahamians in the diaspora across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as well as in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean.)

Here is the powerful, powerful prayer posted on Facebook by Annette Seymour, who lives in Freeport, Grand Bahama:

I’M PRAYING FOR YOU
Saturday, October 7th, 2023

Dear Father God,

I write this prayer letter to you as I stand in the gap for my family, friends, neighbors, and every member of this platform who believes in you and in the power of prayer. May we all come in agreement on this prayer.

ANNETTE SEYMOUR

Father, you said where two are gathered in your name you are in the midst. The world is hurting and there are so many of your  children who are broken. We pray for those who are hurting and frustrated with life. Father, comfort us as we go through our temporary situation and cover us with your presence, peace, and love as only the Holy Spirit can.

Father, we know that whatever we face, you are our peace and refuge, a very present help in times of trouble. Thank you for reminding us that we do not have to face the storms of life alone, because you are always with us whispering calm, speaking peace, and bringing rest to our weary soul.

Oh Father, we ask you to forgive us for trying to figure everything out on our own, for not trusting that you are more than able and powerful to work on our behalf. Forgive us for picking up what we already laid down at your feet. Father, give us the ability to trust you more, give us a heart that finds rest in your presence, give us the wisdom to seek peace and pursue it.

Father God, we are so thankful that your yoke is easy and your burden is light. Thank you that you care so much for us. Thank you that the peace of your loving and strong presence guards and protects our hearts and minds in you. Thank you that we do not have to walk in fear or live in overwhelmed cycles of worry and stress. Thank you for your voice that breaks through the greatest winds and the storm that swirls around us as you whisper “Peace, be still.” Thank you that you sent your one and only son to set us free.

Father, if there’s anyone reading this prayer letter who doesn’t believe in or have a relationship with you, I pray that they would surrender their life to you as you save their soul. Oh Father God, thank you in advance for your grace, mercy, comfort, peace, joy, and for loving us with your unfailing and unconditional love.

I remain still in your grip,

Your child, Annette
