NASSAU, Bahamas, November 25, 2019 – I had to share this photograph posted by Her Excellency Sarah Dickson, British High Commissioner to The Bahamas, on the High Commission’s Facebook page of her and Dr. Sandra Sean-Patterson, one of the truly outstanding women’s rights and social justice activists in The Bahamas. It was posted with the following caption:
“On International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women #VAWG it is an honour to present Dr Sandra Dean-Patterson with a Points of Light Award from HM The Queen for creating the Bahamas crisis centre.”
Here are two of the congratulatory messages under the post:
His Excellency Ellison Greenslade, QPM, Bahamas High Commissioner to Great Britain and Northern Ireland: “Congratulations to Dr. Patterson. Well deserved for her countless years of sacrifice and exemplary leadership.”
Allison P Nortjé, Associate Lecturer, Department of Politics, De Montfort University, Leicester: “Congrats to Dr. Sandra Dean-Patterson on her Points of Light Award. Well deserved. I recall fondly her unwavering support and contributions to The Bahamas Delegation to the CSW annual sessions held at the UN in March. I commend her indomitable spirit and thank her for her work.”
Let me also add my congratulations to this remarkable lady.
