WASHINGTON, D.C. – Deborah Anderson Pratt on Saturday, August 12, 2023, posted a marvelous collection of photos on Facebook of her wonderful “family outing” in Miami to see a Miami Marlins game. Deborah, who lives in Freeport, Grand Bahama, wrote a column for The Freeport News when I was its editor (2003 to 2009) and I knew that she was an excellent writer, but I didn’t know she was also a big baseball fan.
I absolutely had to share some of Deborah’s delightful photos with readers of BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which has a huge following among the Bahamian diaspora across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as well as in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean.
In sharing them, let me also take this opportunity to commend Deborah’s husband Dwayne on being such a wonderful husband and father. Clearly, his marital union with Deborah has been richly blessed by Our Lord and Savior with a strong personal bond of love and some lovely daughters. As a die-hard baseball fan, I know that tickets for Major League games are expensive, so to take the entire family to see a Miami Marlins game — even though fellow Bahamian Jazz Chisholm is one of the Marlins’ stars — is indeed commendable.
Deborah posted the photos with the following narrative:
About last night! Another one ticked off our Bucket List, a Baseball Game! Miami Marlins versus New York Yankees. Miami did not win but it was good to see our Bahamian Player, Jazz Chisholm. #242ToTheWorld 🇧🇸
