The GBPA Acting Chairman noted in a post on the GBPA Facebook page that she “and participating employees from the GBPA were proud to support the walk for the cure along with thousands of men and women” and that all of “the funds raised by the Race for the Cure will remain in The Bahamas to fund breast cancer research/awareness and women’s health programmes.”
The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure series is the world’s largest and most successful education and fundraising event for breast cancer ever created, according to information gleaned from the Internet.
Established in 1982, the Komen Race for the Cure Series has grown from one Race with 800 people in Dallas to a global series of more than 140 races with 1.7 million people participating in four continents.
It is held in The Bahamas during Marathon Bahamas weekend, which is the brainchild of Sir Franklyn Wilson, one of The Bahamas’ pre-eminent business tycoons.
