NASSAU, Bahamas — The government’s Access to Affordable Homes program is off to a shaky start. Service-ready lots are being offered for as low as $15,000, but according to Minister of the Environment and Housing Romauld Ferreira, about 85 percent of the people seeking to purchase have failed to qualify due to their financial constraints, the Nassau Guardian reported August 29.
Dozens have so far applied, said Ferreira, but only nine have qualified. The government is anticipating having more than 100 of these properties available over the course of this fiscal year, with more than 300 ultimately offered to Bahamians. https://thenassauguardian.com/2018/08/29/affordable-homes-program-struggles/
