AMBASSADOR COLLIE AND CONSUL GENERAL NEILLY WELCOME PRIME MINISTER DAVIS TO D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C., October 20, 2021 – His Excellency Sidney Collie, Bahamas Ambassador to the United States and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS), along with the Hon. Theo Neilly, Consul General of The Bahamas in Washington, D.C., welcomed Prime Minister the Hon. Philip “Brave” Davis to Washington, D.C., at the Dulles International Airport on Wednesday, October 20.

Prime Minister Davis joins his wife, Mrs. Ann-Marie Davis, to participate in the 10th anniversary commemoration of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial.

Ambassador Collie and Consul General Neilly were accompanied by Tracee Dorestant, Second Secretary at the Embassy of The Bahamas.

Mrs. Davis arrived in Washington on Tuesday, October 19, along with Sir Franklyn Wilson, Chairman of Sunshine Holdings Limited (SHL), and Sharon Lady Wilson. They were met  at Reagan International Airport by Ambassador Collie and Ms. Jade Williams, Third Secretary at the Embassy of The Bahamas.

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial in Washington, D.C., opening to the public, the foundation behind the monument is hosting two events this week in D.C

“On Wednesday, the foundation  is holding  an invitation-only anniversary gala in titled “Moving the Dream Forward …Forever a Stone of Hope,” celebrating the foundation’s inaugural class of social justice fellows,” according t USA Today.

“The 50 young leaders from across America selected for the program came together virtually this summer to learn skills around leadership, advocacy and community organizing modeled in the work of King himself,” USA Today reported.

It added: “The event will also honor the sponsors who helped create the program, as well as pay homage to members of Congress who have supported the foundation over the years, said Harry Johnson Sr., president and CEO of The Memorial Foundation.”
