WASHINGTON, D.C. — His Excellency Sidney Collie, Bahamas Ambassador to the United States and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS), attended the District of Columbia Chamber of Commerce’s 2019 Annual Choice Awads and Gala on Saturday, October 26, at the National Building Museum, 401 G Street, N.W.
Under the theme “Seizing The Moment For Success,” the Chamber honoured five distinguished individuals and companies “whose outstanding contributions and commitment to Washington D.C. have made this a great city and are moving us forward with every step,” according to the Chamber’s website.
Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C) was honoured with the Lifetime Legacy Award; EventsDC, the Community Impact Award; DC United – Audi Field, the Economnic Impact Award; Kith/Kin, the Business of the Year Award; and Mark Ein, the Business Leader of the Year Award.
During the night of celebration, D.C. Chamber President and CEO Vincent Orange, announced his organisation’s commitment to contribute $25,000.00 to the Bahamas Hurricane Dorian Relief.
A D.C. Chamber delegation, headed by President and CEO Orange, visited The Bahamas April 29 to May 2, 2019 to explore mutually beneficial business, trade, and investment opportunities with the members of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce and Employers Confederation (BCCEC).
The Bahamas Trade Mission took place as a result of a BCCEC-led Trade Mission to Washington, DC, in partnership with the Bahamas Embassy in Washington, DC, in March of 2018. During that Mission, Memoranda of Understanding were signed between the DC and Baltimore Chambers and the BCCEC, and a commitment was made to ensure that a reciprocal Trade Mission took place in the near term.
