AMBASSADOR COLLIE ATTENDS RECEPTION AT EMBASSY OF CUBA

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 22, 2019 — His Excellency Sidney Collie, Bahamas Ambassador to the United States and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS), on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, attended a reception at the Embassy of Cuba, 2630 16th Street, N.W., on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the historic embassy building.  Originally constructed in 1917 as the Cuban Embassy, it served in that capacity until the United States severed relations with Cuba in 1961. On July 1, 2015, US President Barack Obama announced the formal restoration of diplomatic relations between the United States and Cuba, and the building resumed its role as the Cuban Embassy on July 20, 2015.  Ambassador Collie (left) is pictured with Cuban Ambassador to the United States  José Ramón Cabañas (second from left), wife Edilia González and an unidentified guest.
