AMBASSADOR COLLIE TO BE HONOURED AS THE 2022 AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR BY THE ALLEGRO FOUNDATON

WASHINGTON, D.C. – His Excellency Sidney Collie, Bahamas Ambassador to the United States and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS), on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 met with Mrs. Pat Framer, Founder and President of the Allegro Foundation, and Mr. Stephen Davis, Communications Specialist and Office Manager at the Allegro Foundation. Also participating in the meeting  — held at  The Bahamas Embassy Consular-Annex, 1025 Vermont Avenue, N.W. — was Economic Attaché Ronique Brown.

The Allegro Foundation has chosen to honor Ambassador Collie as the 2022 Ambassador of the Year. Ambassador Collie expressed his gratitude to the Foundation for selecting him as next year’s honoree and stated that he looked forward to future partnerships between the Allegro Foundation and The Bahamas.

Ambassador Collie will be honored at the Foundation’s annual Ambassador’s Ball,  which is held to honor and connect international leaders with community and business leaders whilst raising funds to support the important work of the Foundation.

Described on its website as “a Champion for Children with Disabilities,” The Allegro Foundation, founded in 1991, is a local non-profit headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina.

According to the website, “Allegro Foundation combines movement instruction with medical and educational expertise to create a new vehicle to teach children with disabilities. We serve children with mental retardation, Down syndrome, orthopedic challenges (wheelchairs and walkers), spina bifida, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, learning disabilities, children at-risk and children with cancer.”
According its founder, Mrs. Farmer, “The Allegro Foundation’s first priority is being a Champion for Children with Disabilities and with the support of many community leaders and businesses the foundation is able to operate with 700 volunteers and serve over 800 students with disabilities annually.”

Other matters of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
