WASHINGTON, D.C. — His Excellency Sidney Collie, Bahamas Ambassador to the United States and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS), on Thursday, February 6, 2020, met with representatives from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) – Attorney Elena Garagorri-Atristain, Deputy Head of Regional Delegation; Dr. Cate Bird, Missing Person and Forensic Advisor; and Dr. Margarita Studemesiter, the Inter-American Affairs Advisor – at the Embassy of The Bahamas, 2220 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W.
During the meeting, the representatives shared the ICRC’s mandate and mission to address humanitarian needs with regard to migration, detention, law enforcement and missing persons. Further, Dr. Cate apprised the Ambassador of her immediate deployment to Abaco and Grand Bahama after Hurricane Dorian, where she met and worked with government officials concerning missing persons and the safe handling of human remains.
