AN ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING

WASHINGTON, D.C., November 30, 2025 — I am now a resident of Capitol City Health Care Center, a home for the elderly in Southeast Washington, D.C., where I enjoyed an absolutely wonderful Thanksgiving Day. A highlight of the day was a visit by my daughter-in-law Donna and my grandson Marco, who are pictured here in this photo with me during their visit. Donna brought a wonderful Thanksgiving Day dinner with her, but I had just finished eating a scrumptious Thanksgiving Dinner served by the nursing home, but I had it for lunch today.

Aside from the fact that the nursing home has a full staff that includes doctors, nurses, therapists, food servers and various other caregivers, it provides a level of overall good health care services that provide its residents with excellent all-inclusive health services aimed at making its residents as comfortable as possible during their stay, which in my case may be for an extended period.

Be that as it may, my professional skills are still very much mentally active, I plan to remain active journalistically as long as I am able to make a contribution towards the continued progress and development of the country of my birth. As those who have followed my journalistic career know, Sir Arthur Foulkes, who was the News Editor at The Tribune when I joined that newspaper’s staff in May of 1960, is my journalistic mentor. He took a special interest in my development — journalistically and otherwise, especially during that period of my career when I was actively involved in the Black Power Movement.
