ATTENTION RESIDENTS OF GRAND BAHAMA

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 27, 2020 —  The message  below was posted on Facebook by Jenny Russell, The Freeport News’ excellent photographer. Given my close ties to Freeport, where I lived for 12 before moving back to Washington, D.C. in 2013,  as publisher of the online publication BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, I would like to inform the loyal readers of The Freeport News that they can continue to follow important news developments in Grand Bahama in  BAHAMAS CHRONICLE.

When my diplomatic contract was not renewed after the change of government in The Bahamas in May of 2017, I decided to remain in D.C. and established THE BROWN AGENCY LLC, which offers a variety of public relations services. BAHAMAS CHRONICLE was launched to keep Bahamians and nationals from other Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries up-to-date on news from their respective countries and has developed a huge following across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as well as in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean.

As a former Editor of the Freeport News, quite naturally I continue to keep abreast of news generated in Grand Bahama and have been reporting on developments in Grand Bahama in BAHAMAS CHRONICLE from its inception. I would like to take this opportunity to again express my thanks to R.H. Culmer, CEO of Jarol Investments Ltd., operators of CHANCES GAMES, for advertising in BAHAMAS CHRONICLE from it was launched. We would also like to express our thanks to Sarah St. George, Acting Chairman of the Grand Baahama Port Authority (GBPA), for the GBPA’s ongoing support.

For advertisers in Grand Bahama, we have very affordable advertising and promotional rates. We can be contacted at oswaldtbrown242@gmail.com and you can access BAHAMAS CHRONICLE at bahamaschronicle.com.

“A Message from our General Manager & Managing Editor, Frederick R. Sturrup, J.P.

DUE TO THE NATIONAL STATE OF EMERGENCY, AIRLINES ARE NOT COMMUTING BETWEEN THE CAPITAL ISLAND OF NEW PROVIDENCE AND GRAND BAHAMA. BECAUSE THE FREEPORT NEWS’ PRINTING PRESS WAS SERIOUSY COMPROMISED DURING HURRICANE DORIAN, WE HAVE BEEN PRINTING IN NEW PROVIDENCE, AT THE NASSAU GUARDIAN. THE DISRUPTION OF THE AIRLINE SERVICE HAS CAUSED US TO STOP THE USUAL PUBLICATION. HOWEVER, GOING FORWARD WE WILL BE UTILIZING OUR FACEBOOK AND OTHER ONLINE FORUMS TO PROVIDE MORE OF THE NEWS, AND ALSO POST OUR EDITORIALS AND COLUMNS.
