BAAWMAR HOLDS ANNUAL PICNIC CELEBRATING THE BAHAMAS 51ST INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 9, 2024 – Bahamians in the Washington, D.C. area diaspora celebrated the 51st anniversary of The Bahamas’ independence at the Bahamian American Association of the Washington, DC & Mid-Atlantic Region (BAAWMAR) annual picnic on Saturday, July 6, at the US Coast Guard Base in Alexandria, Virginia.

In the narrative that accompanied a group of photos taken at the picnic that were posted on Facebook, officials of BAAWMAR thanked those who joined them at the picnic and added, “We hope that you enjoyed the fellowship, food and fun as much as we did. We have plans to convene our next Association events in the fall, including potentially coordinating group outings to baseball and basketball games to see fellow Bahamians in action. Please look out for updates on our next events, which will be shared soon.”

BAAWMAR added, “For those of you who are not yet members, we also invite you to join us.
