Bahamian WNBA superstar Jonquel Jones, a native of Grand Bahama, is one of the top players on the New York Liberty team, partnering with Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu to currently lead the Liberty to the best record in the league. Jones has averaged 15.3 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.7 blocks per game as of August 2024.

“We look forward to seeing you at the Game!,” BAAWMAR states.
As BAAWMAR notes on its website: “Membership in the Bahamian American Association of the Washington Mid Atlantic Region is open to all persons of Bahamian descent or otherwise, who reside in the Washington, DC and Mid-Atlantic Region or elsewhere, and are interested in furthering the goals of the Association.
“While there has been a community of Bahamians in the D.C. area who have been connecting for several decades, the Bahamian American Association of the Washington, DC & Mid-Atlantic Region, Inc. (BAAWMAR) was formally established in 2016. Plans to revitalize the organization began in 2019 with formalizing Association membership and election of a Board.
