BAHAMAS AMBASSADOR TO OAS NEYMOUR CHAIRS PAHO INFORMATION MEETING

WASHINGTON, D.C., June 14, 2024 — In his capacity as Chair of the OAS Permanent Council, His Excellency Chet Neymour, Bahamas Ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS), on June 10, served as Chair of the 174th Session of the Executive Committee of Pan-American Health Organization Information Meeting for Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives of other Member States of the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO).

The purpose of the meeting was to inform the Ambassadors of the upcoming session of the PAHO Executive Committee to be held from June 24 to 28 and apprise Ambassadors on agenda items in order to facilitate the briefings to their respective delegations.

PAHO Executive Committee is composed of nine Member States of the Organization, elected by the Conference or the Council for overlapping periods of three years. The Committee, which meets twice a year, acts as a working party of the Conference or Council. Special meetings are convoked by the Director of the Bureau either on his/her own initiative or upon request of at least three Member States. The Committee has an auxiliary advisory body, the Subcommittee on Program, Budget, and Administration.
