BAHAMAS CONSULATE IN NEW YORK CELEBRATES COUNTRY’S 51ST ANNIVERSSRY OF INDEPENDENCE WITH SERVICE AT TIMES SQUARE CHURCH

NEW YORK, N.Y., July 9, 2024 — Led by the Hon. Leroy F. Major, Bahamas Consul General to New York, The Bahamas Consulate in New York celebrated The Commonwealth of The Bahamas’ 51st Anniversary of Independence with a worship service at Times Square Church, West 51st Street, New York, this past Sunday, July 7.

This event also marked the second occasion of The Bahamas Consulate General New York commemorated The Bahamas’ Independence at Time Square Church, the first time being in 2022 for the 49th anniversary.

Sixty-two nations along with 36 U.S. states tuned in for the service as Time Square Church’s Senior Pastor Tim Dilena prayed for the country and praised The Bahamas for its continuous prosperity as an independent nation.

Later, Pastor Dilena and the church hosted a private reception for The Bahamas Consulate and Bahamian Americans who attended the service. Pastor Dilena was presented with a donation by Consul General Major.
