UNITED NATIONS, New York, Sept. 23, 2019 — Minister of Foreign Affairs the Hon. Darren Henfield is in New York City for the 74th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) as head of The Bahamas delegation, which includes the Hon. Renward Wells, Minister of Transport and Local Government; Hon. Ricky Mackey, MP; Ms. Sharon Brennen-Haylock, Director-General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Mr. Kenneth Wallace-Whitfield, Foreign Service Officer, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Minister Henfield will also attend various meetings on the margins of the General Assembly, including the US-CARICOM Ministerial with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, when the Minister will provide an update on The Bahamas’ Hurricane Dorian response, the Cabinet Office announced in a press release.

Minister Henfield will also represent Prime Minister the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis at the Western Hemispheric Leaders Meeting with United States President Donald Trump to discuss the democratic transition of Venezuela.

The Bahamas Consulate General in New York and the Bahamas Permanent Mission to the UN have also announced that Minister Henfield will attend a prayer service in memory of the victims of Hurricane Dorian hosted by Rev. Father Gerald Murray, Rector of Holy Family Catholic Church, 315 East 47th Street, New York, at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26.

Minister Henfield’s credentials as Head of Delegation will expire on the September 26, when Prime Minister Minnis will arrive in New York to deliver The Bahamas’ National Statement at UNGA on September 27.

Minister Henfield will return to The Bahamas on Saturday, September 28.
