NASSAU, Bahamas, March 7, 2023 — Latia Duncombe, Director General of the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation (BMOTIA), is heading The Bahamas delegation currently participating in the International Tourism Exchange (ITB) in Berlin, Germany, March 7–9
The Bahamas delegation includes members of BMOTIA, representatives of the three promotion boards, hotels and resorts, and local tour operators.
Over three intensive days of the tourism trade show, representatives of The Bahamas tourism and hospitality sector are showcasing in grand style the appeal of The Islands of The Bahamas to thousands of travel trade professionals and as well as engaging in one-on-one-meetings with some of the biggest global tour operators and other industry professionals to expand and negotiate new travel business to The Bahamas.
“Our destination has been participating in ITB for many years,” said Director General Duncombe, prior to the group’s departure for Germany. “This year, all the major players of our tourism industry will be in Berlin on a mission to showcase in the international travel trade that The Bahamas is the top destination for memorable vacations. “
Duncombe noted that In 2022, “we made huge strides in tourism recovery, coming in close to rival our pre-pandemic numbers of 2019” adding that at ITB, “we will be making the strategic connections to drive new business and to increase business from our present partners in Europe and from around the world.“ added Duncombe.
In a press release on its website today (March 7), ITB Berlin states: “With the exhibition grounds almost fully booked and high demand from the Middle East, the cruise industry and travel technology sector, following the break due to the pandemic and taking as its slogan ’Open for Change’, the World’s Leading Travel Trade Show ITB Berlin is back from 7 to 9 March 2023 with international exhibitors in high numbers as a hybrid in-person event in the display halls in Berlin. In total, around 5,500 exhibiting companies from 161 countries are taking part in this year’s ITB Berlin. Additionally represented companies are no longer being counted as of this year.
“The high number of registrations for the Buyers Circle also reflects the desire for face-to-face talks. This year, ITB Berlin was for the first time able to approve 1,300 handpicked buyers – nearly a third more than before the pandemic.”
For more than 50 years the name ITB has stood worldwide for industry knowledge 365 days a year, networking and trendsetting events, whether in a virtual, in-person or hybrid format. Every year in March the world of international tourism gathers at the largest travel trade show, ITB Berlin.
