WASHINGTON, D.C., October 23, 2023 — Deborah Anderson Pratt, who wrote a column for the Freeport News when I was its Editor (2003 – 2009), today posted a collection of photos on Facebook that I absolutely had to share with readers of my online publication, BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which has a huge following among Bahamians in the diaspora across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as well as in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean community.

Mrs. Anderson Pratt, who is  an accomplished corporate trainer and motivational speaker in Grand Bahama, posted the photos with the following narrative:

This past Saturday, October 21st, Bahamas District of Pilot International held its annual Fall Council for Pilot Clubs on Grand Bahama. It was a beautiful day of learning “Habits of High Performers” from the book by Brendon Bruchard.

It was one year ago, October 2022, when I was the Guest Speaker at the Fall Council, that I was inspired to join this amazing service organization. It felt good being there as a Pilot this year. I was asked to lead a Team Building exercise on Saturday and decided to have the Pilots try the “Human Knot Challenge”.

It did not quite come out as it should have but it was fun.  It also gave them an opportunity to practice a few skills needed for teamwork, like communication and creative thinking, etc.”

EDITOR’S NOTE: Ever since The Freeport News ceased publication as a daily newspaper, I have been making a concerted effort to fill the news void that was created by its closing.  Having lived in Freeport for more than 12 years before relocating to Washington, D.C. as Press, Cultural Affairs and Information Manager at the Embassy of The Bahamas in 2013, I strongly believe that my online publication, BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, could be an effective news medium in Grand Bahama.

Indeed, BAHAMAS CHRONICLE has a sizeable readership in not only Grand Bahama, but also in Nassau and some of the Family Islands. Of course, It would be extremely helpful if I could establish a working relationship with a news-savvy individual in both Freeport and Nassau to assist in providing up-to-date news. I have extended reasonable proposals to several persons in this regard, but have not gotten any responses. If you are reading this and are interested in my working relationship proposal, please email me at: oswaldb317@gmail.com.
