LONDON, England — Commenting on The Bahamas independence celebrations held in London, His Excellency Ellison Greenslade, QPM, Bahamas High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, noted in a tweet: “The evening of the 10th July 2019 was delightful and enjoyable, at the IMO HQ, London UK, as we celebrated our Nation’s 46th birthday with members of the Diplomatic Corps, the Bahamian Diaspora, the Bahamas National Youth Choir, & friends of The Bahamas!”

In an earlier report, BAHAMAS CHRONCLE erroneously stated that the independence celebrations were held at the High Commission, but although we got the venue wrong, clearly the event was indeed “delightful and enjoyable,” as noted by the High Commissioner.

However, the High Commissioner  and his wife Mrs. Kimberly Greenslade, Senior Manager of The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism in London, did host a “thank you” luncheon reception for members of the National Youth Choir at the Bahamas High Commission, 10 Chesterfield Street, Mayfair, on Saturday, July 13, 2019

Among those in attendance were Minister of Transport the Hon. Renward Wells and the Director General of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Sharon Brennen Haylock.

Minister Wells was the special guest speaker at the reception held  on Wednesday, July 10, at which the  National Youth Choir performed. The Choir was also featured in a lunch-time concert on Thursday, July 11, at St. Paul’s Church, Bedford Street, Covent Garden.
