FREEPORT, Grand Bahama –Bahamas Information Services (BIS) released an excellent collection of photos taken at The Bahamas Independence Golden Jubilee celebrated in Grand Bahama on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. We decided to share some of them with readers of BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which has a huge following among the Bahamian diaspora across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as well as in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean. The photos were released with the following narrative:
“Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey, and officials from a broad swath of the community attended The Bahamas’ Independence Golden Jubilee celebration on Independence Park, Coral Road, on Independence Day, July 10, 2023.
The jubilee ceremonies comprised a Military Tattoo and Cultural Show with a number of local and national artists, including IMC Choir, the St.George’s High School Jags Pop Band, the Cat Island Association/YARD Group, Sharade Taylor, Dora Javan Hunt, Raquel Oliver, Avvy, Mello D, Wilfred Solomon, Stileet, a Battle of the Djs with Tiko T, Money Like Dirt and Steelie.
The audience enjoyed a Bahamian fashion showcase. A flag-raising ceremony took centre stage, and afterwards fireworks and a Junkanoo rushout.”
