BAHAMAS CHRONICLE EDITOR’S NOTE: I absolutely had to share this post by Mario K. Bowleg, Minister of Youth, Sports & Culture, with readers of my Washington, D.C. – based online publication, BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which has a huge following among the Bahamian diaspora across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as well as in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean:
Minister Bowleg posted this photo with the following narrative:
Proud doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel about our Men’s National Basketball Team. Today, they played their hearts out against Spain, and while we fell short by just 8 points, the effort and determination they displayed were nothing short of inspiring.
This journey has been close to my heart, having started with these incredible athletes over seven years ago as their head coach. Watching them grow, fight, and make history by moving up in the world rankings has been a privilege.
To the team: you have shown the world what Bahamian resilience and spirit look like. Your hard work and dedication have made us all proud. Though we didn’t secure a spot in Paris, the journey isn’t over. There is so much promise for this team, and our focus now shifts to the AmeriCup. Trust and believe, Spain will see us again in the very near future.
Thank you for representing the Bahamas with such honor and passion. MB cares, and I stand with you today and always.
