NEW YORK, N.Y. —The Hon. Leroy F. Major, Bahamas Consul General to New York, and staff members attended a reception held by the Hon. Myles LaRoda, Bahamas Minister of Social Services, Information and Broadcasting, on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
The reception honored the delegation and the staff at the Ministry of Social Services, Information and Broadcasting on the occasion of the 68th annual Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68), the United Nation’s largest annual gathering on gender equality and women’s empowerment, currently being held from March 11 – 22, under the priority theme, “Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective”.
In attendance were H.E. Stan Smith, Bahamas Ambassador & Permanent Representative to the Unted Nations; Senator the Hon. Lashelle Adderley, President of the Bahamas Senate; Mrs. Phedra Rahmin-Turnquest, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Services, Information and Broadcasting; and Mrs. Paulette Zonicle, who emceed the event; and students from Akhepran International Academy and those from the Bahamian diaspora.
