BAHAMAS PARTICIPATES IN ANNUAL WINTERNATIONAL EMBASSY SHOWCASE

WASHINGTON, D.C., Thursday, December 6, 2018 — The Bahamas was among the more than 50-plus  countries that participated in the 7th Annual Winternational Embassy Showcase in the Atrium of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., on Thursday, December 6, 2018  from 11:00AM – 2:00PM.

The event was hosted by TCMA (A Drew Company), a private sector building management and hospitality service provider, operating in a unique relationship with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), owner of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.

Mrs. Dornell Watson-Dean, Sr. Business Development Manager, Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, based in the Washington, D.C., area, encouraging visitors to The Bahamas booth to consider visiting The Bahamas when they ae planning their next vacation.

Office workers from downtown and the surrounding used their lunch break to join hundreds visitors to Washington, D.C. for what a TCMA press release described as an “exciting celebration showcasing the cultural and culinary traditions of Washington’s diplomatic community,”

“This festival has the atmosphere of a bustling global marketplace with each embassy promoting their country through vibrant displays of visual art, food, handcrafts as well as travel and tourism exhibits,” the press release noted. “Free and open to the public, guests have the opportunity to travel the world and do some holiday shopping — all during the lunch hour!”

Mr. Theo Neilly, Bahamas Consul General, participated along with several staff members of The Bahamas Embassy Consular Annex.

“We are showcasing Bahamian treats, spices, straw goods and art, which will make great Christmas gifts,” Consul General Neilly said.

In addition to The Bahamas, participating embassies in the Annual Winternational Embassy Showcase included:  Afghanistan, Australia, African Union, Armenia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Botswana, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Costa Rica, Egypt, El Salvador, European Union, Fiji, Ghana, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Indonesia, Kenya, Kosovo, Latvia, Lesotho, Lithuania, Malawi, Malaysia, Malta, Moldova, Mongolia, Morocco, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Qatar, Russian Federation, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
