BAHAMAS SPELLING BEE GROUP PAYS COURTESY CALL ON BAHAMAS AMBASSADOR TO THE OAS

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 31, 2024 — Bahamas National Spelling Bee (BNSB) Committee members and the two Bahamas participants in the 2024 Scripps National Spelling Bee held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center at National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland, near Washington, D.C., yesterday paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Chet Neymour, Bahamas Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS)

The Bahamas was represented in the Scripps Spelling Bee by Bahamas National Spelling Bee (BNSB) champion Aarav Balani, a 12-year-old 7th grade student at Lyford Cay International School, and Eckward Ferguson, a 12-year-old 8th grade student at Central Eleuthera High School, who placed second in the BNSB competition.

During the courtesy call, Mr. Neymour discussed the importance of education and the commendable representation of The Bahamas by the two Bahamian spellers.

In addition to members of the Bahamas National Spelling Bee Committee, during the courtesy call, the spellers were accompanied by parents and coaches who accompanied them to D.C. to support them during the competition.
