HOUSTON, Texas — Mrs. Marilyn Rose, a Bahamian who is the Second Vice Chair of the Board o Regents of Texas Southern University, was honoured as one of the “Top 30 Most Influential Ladies in Houston” an event held at the Houstonian Hotel in Houston on Friday, August 24, 2019.
Mrs. Rose is the wife of the Hon. Lynden Rose, The Bahamas Honorary Consul in Houston, who congratulated his wife on his Facebook page with the following message: “Congratulations to Marilyn Rose, my wife, a special brilliant lady from The Bahamas who was honored Friday night as one of the Top 30 Most Influential Ladies in Houston.”
A Certified Public Accountant and a former Registered Texas Assessor Collector, Mrs. Rose was appointed to the Texas Southern University Board of Regents by Governor Greg Abbott on March 7, 2011 and served until February 1, 2015. She was reappointed on April 26, 2015 for a term that ends on February 1, 2021.
Mrs. Rose has over five years of audit experience in the Public Accountant Firm of Price Waterhouse Coopers and Deloitte & Touche and nine years of Internal Audit experience with the Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Office. She is currently employed at the Harris County Sheriff Office as a Financial Analyst in the Finance Department.
In early 2000, Mrs. Rose started a company, Rose Pinnock LLC, offering accounting and business consulting services. The company was later renamed LM Rose Consulting Group LLC.
She is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, a Board Member of the Texas Organization of Youth Sports and a former Board Member of the Lupus Foundation of America, Texas Gulf Coast Chapter.
Mrs. Rose has also received a U S Congressional Proclamation by Congresswoman Hon. Sheila Jackson-Lee, Democratic Representative for the 18th Congressional District of Texas.
A graduate of R M Bailey High School in Nassau, Mrs. Rose received a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Prairie View A&M University and an MBA from Texas Southern University, both of which are in the Houston area.
