BASTIAN GETS GREEN LIGHT FOR PROJECT

Sebas Bastian

NASSAU — After having a months-long stop order placed on his plans to develop an office complex near Lyford Cay, businessman Sebas Bastian has received the green light from the Town Planning Committee to start construction, the Nassau Guardian reported on May 10.

It came a week after Bastian’s attorney, Alfred Sears, QC, wrote to Minister of Public Works Desmond Bannister alleging that his client was being discriminated against and threatening to sue the government if the matter was not resolved within seven days.

In a letter to Sears yesterday, Acting Director of Physical Planning Charles Zonicle informed that the  Town Planning Committee reviewed the building permit application relative to the proposed office park for Brickell Management Group Ltd. at a meeting on Tuesday.

“The committee resolved to grant approval for the proposed office park subject to the following conditions: The applicant must adhere to the requirements of the Ministry of Public Works relative to junction improvements and on site drainage controls; applicant must adhere to the landscape plan and the requirements of the Forestry Unit.”

When contacted by the Nassau Guardian last night, Bastian said, “They demonstrated they were able to do in two days – after a headline story – what they claimed they couldn’t do in eight months. It only reconfirmed my original suspicion.”

Bastian was referencing a Nassau Guardian article carried on Monday, outlining the issues connected to the stop order.
