NASSAU, Bahamas, May 21,2021 — Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis announced yesterday that noted Bahamian entrepreneur Sebas Bastian has been named non-resident ambassador designate for South Africa.
Mr. Bastian is the CEO of Island Luck, one of the largest numbers houses in the The Bahamas. He is also the owner of Eyewitness News, and has contributed significantly to charitable organizations in the country.
The Prime Minister made the impromptu announcement during the opening of Bastian’s new commercial plaza in Marsh Harbour, Abaco, The Nassau Guardian reported on Friday, May 21, 2021.
According to information gleaned from Mr. Bastian’s LinkedIn page on the Internet, Mr. Bastian – who is described as a Serial Entrepreneur, Professional Disruptor, and Philanthropist — started his first company in electronics at the age of 19.
“If money was the only goal, I would have stopped there and never started another company,” he notes. “Yet, ideas for new businesses kept me up at night. All I could think about were companies that would bring value. I was well into founding company number three before I even heard the term ‘Serial Entrepreneur’ and I’ve never connected with a title more. Hello, my name is Sebastian and I am a serial entrepreneur.”
He adds: “Over the past 10 years, I’ve founded and launched over 15 companies, conglomerates, and brands that have become household names in The Bahamas. After founding Island Luck, which proudly sits as the number one online gaming company in the country, I diversified my portfolio — launching Brickell Management (BMG). BMG has become a Bahamian conglomerate encompassing various sectors, including real estate development, property management, residential and commercial construction.
“My latest venture, The Wyyse Group, was born of my desire to disrupt the traditional landscape of the ‘norm’ in The Bahamas and The Caribbean with a powerful combination of smart tech, digital ingenuity, and bold ideas.” Continuing, he adds: “Through digital advancement, Wyyse brings to market tech companies that challenge the way we do business, the way we communicate, down to the very way we live our everyday lives.
“I learned early on in life that doors would not be held open for me– I would always have to build my own. While I’m certainly not the first to walk through self-made doors, I firmly believe in holding doors open for others to follow. I’m a huge believer that the power of ingenuity is not limited by one’s education level, background, or street address. These beliefs led me to launch the IL Cares Foundation, a charity focusing on bettering the socio-economic foundation of The Bahamas, and OWN, a think-tank dedicated to the development of Bahamian entrepreneurs by providing grants and mentorship.
“I want to work and build with those from any corner of the world who challenge others by asking ‘why not?’ where many say ‘no’. What are you challenging today? My inbox is open — Let’s talk, let’s disrupt the norm, and let’s build more doors.”
