NASSAU, Bahamas — As the time quickly approaches for The Bahamas to implement certain commitments it made to the European Union (EU) to remain off its blacklist, a financial sector services expert is urging government to tighten its belt on meeting deadlines and engaging stakeholders for proper consultation, the Nassau Guardian reported on July 19.
Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants President Gowan Bowe said the scrambling government did to remove the country off the EU blacklist of non-cooperative tax jurisdictions earlier this year is an indication that the country has not been appropriately keeping its finger on the pulse of matters that affect the financial services sector. https://thenassauguardian.com/2018/07/19/bica-head-wants-better-consultation-by-govt-with-financial-sector-stakeholders/
