ORLANDO, Florida, March 5, 2020 — Billy Jane Ferguson, former President of the Rotary Club of Lucaya, who has been one of the most active Rotarians in exemplifying Rotary International’s motto of “Service Above Self” in Grand Bahama, has been selected to become the next District 6990 Assistant Governor for District 10 for the island of Grand Bahama.

Ferguson, who is participating in the Rotary Florida PETS  training session in Orlando March 5-7, announced this on her Facebook page with the following information: “I have been chosen and decided to give myself for service again at the District level. Come July 1st, 2020 I will become Area Governor for area 10 and the Island of Grand Bahama, which is a part of District 6990. It is an honour to render service above self and commit to helping my beautiful island. Here to welcome me and all the other Area Governors and President Elects is our Incoming Rotary International President Holger Knaack. He personally thanked me and extended best wishes to all Rotarians on the island for the work we are doing to restore the island of Grand Bahama.  While Rotary Connects the world it also Opens Opportunities. I AM PROUD TO BE A ROTARIAN!”

According to its website, “Rotary Florida PETS is a partnership of eight Rotary Districts, covering the entire state of Florida and Grand Bahama Island. This elevating and informative seminar exposes Presidents-Elect to the latest trends and techniques in the operation of a Rotary Club. The PETS experience is also a wonderful opportunity for great fellowship and networking with approximately 650 Rotarians, from our entire area and beyond.”

Noting that the PETS Training Team has “developed a diverse curriculum based on their considerable experience and on the feedback received from previous attendees,” the website adds: “The training is aimed specifically at giving practical information and best practices to prepare incoming Presidents for their year of service to their Club. Also during our meal sessions, we are treated to some of the very best speakers in the Rotary world.  Every year this unique PETS experience transforms those selected to lead their Clubs, giving them the knowledge and confidence to lead with innovation and inspiration. PETS is a participation sport, the more you put in, the more you get out, and the more your Club will benefit.”
