ACTS OF POLITICAL VICTIMIZATION?

Carmel Churchill, who posted this photo, is at the far end of the table and my journalistic colleague Earnestine Moxyz, whom I have not seen since we both lived in Freeport, is second from  right. I know that she is now a member of the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism’s PR team based in Florida because I occasionally received press releases from her before  my contractual agreement with the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism was abruptly cancelled last December.

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 26, 2021 — The photo accompanying this article was included in a collage of photos posted by Carmel Churchill, who lives in Freeport and does a fantastic job promoting Grand Bahama and The Bahamas in general. It is a very timely photo that allows me to comment on two matters that may have been  blatant acts of political victimization against me by the current Free National Movement government.

Carmel posted the photos with the following narrative:

“Cheers to a great dinner last evening with the Bahamas’ newest Flying Ambassadors, Valerie & Eric.

Thanks to the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism & Aviation’s Sr. Director, Vertical Markets Department, Greg Rolle, and Earnestine Moxyz for spearheading this event.

Steven Johnson , Nuvolari Chotoosingh, Elaine Smith and Anya A. Hanna of the BMOT-Grand Bahama Office were outstanding hosts.

Kudos to Team Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach Resort’s Managers, Marco Gobbi and Lino Piserchia, along with their team for providing outstanding service and ambiance.  Our original setup was beautiful.  The quick change, due to weather, was just as beautiful. That tuna though 😋😋!”

I decided to share this particular photo because one of the persons in it is my good friend and journalistic colleague Earnestine Moxyz, whom I have not seen since we both lived in Freeport. I know that she is now a member of the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism’s PR team based in Florida because I occasionally received press releases from her when my PR company THE BROWN AGENCY  had a  year-long contractual agreement with the Ministry of Tourism to assist in promoting The Bahama that was abruptly cancelled last December for reasons I still don’t understand. In any case, I continue to promote The Bahamas without compensation because I love the country of my birth with the overwhelming passion of a true Androsian.

Now that A NEW DAY is definitely on the horizon in The Bahamas as the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP), under the leadership of Philip “Brave” Davis, is poised to begin the important task of restoring good governance to the country, I have already decided to officially request whomever is the New Minister of Tourism to reinstate my contractual agreement to help promote The Bahamas as one of the world’s leading tourist destinations.

I am absolutely convinced that the country’s long political nightmare over the past four-plus years under the Free National Movement government — led by Dr. Hubert Minnis, the most inept and incompetent Prime Minister in the history of The Bahamas – is about to come to an end when the PLP convincingly wins the September 16 general election.

What’s more, I strongly believe that the PLP will win all five seats in Grand Bahama, where I lived for 12 years before moving back to Washington, D.C. as Press, Cultural Affairs and Information Manger at the Embassy of The Bahama in 2013.

When the FNM won the May 10 general election, however, my diplomatic appointment was rescinded. Again, because I thought I did a great job at the Embassy for four-plus years, I submitted a proposal in 2017 to continue doing what I did at the Embassy on a contractual basis.

I was subsequently informed by Ambassador Sidney Collie that my revised proposal for a financial remuneration of $2,000 a month had been approved, and this was confirmed by Attorney General Carl Bethel after it had been reviewed by the Attorney General’s office.

This was early in 2018, but Minister of Foreign Affairs Darren Henfield has consistently refused to answer my emails seeking a reason for his refusal to implement the terms of my approved contract. But it ain’t long now before voters in Mr. Henfield’s constituency in Abaco let him know that he should continue his reported ambition to become a full-time Minister of the Gospel.

Likewise, it ain’t long now before the Bahamian electorate send Dr.Hubert A. Minnis back to practicing gynecology full-time and cease his political malpractice as this country’s inept and incompetent Prime Minister.
