FREEPORT, Grand Bahama, February 19, 2024 — Camden Green, a fifth-grade student at Walter Parker Primary School, recently won the Grand Bahama District Spelling Bee and will now represent the Grand Bahama District in the Bahamas National Spelling Bee (BNSB) 27th Annual Spelling Bee finals in New Providence at SuperClubs Breezes on March 17, 2024.
Camden attributed his victory to his dedicated coaches, one of whom a fifth-grade teacher, Anastasia Clarke, who said that Camden’s commitment and diligence ultimately made him the spelling bee champ and described him as a very hard-working student. His other coach, Nicole Walkin, said it was exciting every day to watch Camden study and spell words.”
Meanwhile, Camden’s parents – Oscar and Kisstonya Green — expressed their pride in their son’s well-rounded abilities, highlighting his prowess in sports alongside his academic achievements. They said his win was simply a proud family moment.
The champion and the second-place finisher in BNSB 27th Annual Spelling Bee Final Competition will represent The Bahamas in the annual Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., which takes place at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, near Washington, D.C., from May 28 to May 30.
