NASSAU, Bahamas – Elizabeth MP Jobeth L. Coleby-Davis, Minister of Transport and Housing, posted a collection of excellent photos on Facebook that were taken by Anthon Thompson on the first day of summer camp for youngsters in her constituency . We absolutely had to share some of them with readers of BAHAMAS CHRONICLE, which has a huge following among the Bahamian diaspora across the United States as well as in The Bahamas and the wider Caribbean. Mrs. Coleby-Davis posted the photos with the following narrative:

Today we had an exciting first day of camp. Our campers engaged in morning devotion and then introduced themselves to each other, as they span from all over the Constituency and various schools.

Then we went on our first field trip to “Down to Earth – Adventure Farm” with Mr. Sinclair. He taught us about all of his farm animals. We got to pet and interact with some of them, ducks, crabs, rooster, chickens, hens, goats and pigs. We also learned about different fruit and vegetables trees. He showed us how he builds fume boards to Harvest honey from bees. We also got to sample fourteen different fruit juice flavors, with my favorite being the soursop. Mr. Sinclair showed us his manmade ponds with talapia and where he grows seedlings for backyard farmers.

To top it off, we had lunch in his cultural village where we made our own pizza and cooked it in his outdoor self built pizza oven- that he uses coconut to burn for heating, instead of coal.

Our kids had an AMAZING first day. Thank you, parents, for entrusting us with them to make our very first summer camp a success.

Looking forward to a successful week at Camp Elizabeth Matters!
