CARICOM HEADS PARTICIPATE IN SPECIAL COVID-19 EMERGENCY MEETING ONLINE

NASSAU, Bahamas, April 15, 2020 — As Member States of the Caribbean Community CARICOM) continue their fight against the COVID-19 and its impact of lives and livelihoods, CARICOM Chairman Prime Minister Mia Mottley of Barbados conducted a Special Emergency Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM online on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.

The Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis, Prime Minister of The Bahamas, participated in the video-conference along with  Minister of Foreign Affairs Darren Henfield and Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister Joshua Sears from the Office of the Prime Minister in the Cecil Wallace-Whitfield Centre Cable Beach. One of the central areas of discussion was the economic analysis on the impact of COVID-19 on regional economies. Regional Public Health policy proposals were introduced for review and consideration.

“The meeting was a success and is the first of many to seek common understanding, cooperation and dialogue for the positive public health, and economic response to the pandemic,” according to a post on the Facebook page of the Office of the Prime Minister.
