CENTRAL BANK GOVERNOR ADDRESSES SECURITY ISSUE FOLLOWING BANK “SKIMMING” INCIDENT

 JOHN ROLLE, Central Bank Governor

NASSAU, Bahamas — All commercial banks have systems in place to help customers recover lost funds, Governor of The Central Bank of The Bahamas (CBOB), John Rolle said yesterday. Three days ago it was revealed that some Royal Bank of Canada customers were victims of skimming, which clones debit cards so that thieves can retrieve the money on those accounts, the Guardian reported August 17.

Rolle said in such situations the CBOB communicates with commercial banks to ensure they are addressing the issue and resolving customers’ concerns and their own internal technology issues.

“Our broader strategy is to ensure that banks have effective strategies in place to manage the business and technology risks posed by data breaches,” Rolle said. https://thenassauguardian.com/2018/08/17/central-bank-governor-addresses-security-issue-following-bank-skimming-incident/
