My fellow Bahamians and friends of The Bahamas.

Christmas brings us a message of hope, comfort and joy. It is the time of year when we offer our thanks to God and our fellowmen for the many spiritual blessings and kindnesses.

During this season our thoughts turn to the source of joy and hope born in a humble manger on a holy night over 2,000 years ago. Each year, Christians everywhere celebrate this single life that changed the world and continues to change hearts even today.

The simple and inspiring story of the birth of Jesus Christ, fills our souls with gratitude for the many blessings in our lives and promises that God’s purpose is justice and His plan is peace.

As we enjoy the camaraderie and fellowship of this festive season, may we also reflect on the values that unite us, the values that our country was founded on and that make The Bahamas a beacon of hope for others.

2019 has been a year of challenge to many and has certainly taught the need for unity. As it draws to a close and we look back at the failures and accomplishments, and we look forward to the New Year, may we continue the spirit of unity and togetherness practiced in the post-hurricane days, weeks and months, of working together as friends, family, community and as a nation.

May your Christmas be Merry and your New Year prosperous and Happy and may God continue to bless the relationship between The Bahamas and the United States of America.
