PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, August 20, 2022 – Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper, who is attending the second CARICOM Agri-Investment Forum and Expo taking place in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, August 18 – 21, was present as Team Bahamas made a clean sweep in the 9-10 boys 100m backstroke at the 2022 Goodwill Swim Meet in Trinidad and had the honor to the “personally present” the winning trio with their medals.
In the narrative that accompanied a photo posted on Facebook with the winning trio, the Deputy Prime Minister stated: “It was such a proud moment for me to witness the victory of the 9-10 boys in the 100m backstroke at the 2022 Goodwill Swim Meet in Trinidad. I was most honored today to personally present: Harold Simmons – Gold; Christon Joseph – Silver; and Blake Comarcho – Bronze.”
Sponsored by The Aquatics Sports Association of Trinidad and Tobago, the National Federations of Barbados, St. Lucia, Guyana, Suriname, The Bahamas and Grenada were invited “to celebrate the XXVI Annual Goodwill Swim Meet 2022 in Port of Spain, Trinidad,” according to a statement on Facebook, which added: “As host Country Trinidad has extended an invitation to the National Federations of Jamaica and Curacao to be the Guest Teams for the special 2022 edition.”
Deputy Prime Minister Cooper, who is also Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, is heading a Bahamian delegation to the CARICOM Agri-Investment Forum and Expo that includes H.E. Winston Pinnock, Bahamas Ambassador to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The two-day conference is being held under the theme, “Transforming Agriculture through Innovation and Investment”.
