CONSUL ALARICE GRANT REPRESENTS BAHAMAS CONSULAR ANNEX AT DIPLOMAT HEALTH CONFERENCE

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 16, 2024 — Ms. Alarice Grant, Consul at Bahamas Embassy Consular Annex in Washington, D.C., represented the Consular Annex at a Diplomat Health Conference held on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Kaiser Permanente here in Washington, DC.

The conference brought together foreign ambassadors/diplomats, U.S. government officials, representatives from multi-lateral health agencies, health providers, and healthcare corporations for knowledge sharing and exchange on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare and successful population health outcomes from a global perspective. It was organized by Kaiser Permanente, recognized as one of leading healthcare providers and nonprofit health plans in the U.S.

Panel session on “Healthcare, AI and Digital Technology”

During the opening session, remarks were made by Ms. Karen Cooke, Director of Kaiser Permanente International, and Malta Ambassador Godfrey Xuereb, non-resident High Commissioner for The Bahamas.

Ms. Cooke highlighted that her role connects programs and opportunities for international healthcare leaders to improve healthcare globally, especially leveraging technologies for population health.

Ambassador Xuereb, who has worked in public health and health promotion, emphasized the importance of AI and digital health in healthcare, particularly in countries where healthcare is in the developing stage.

Panel sessions were held on “Successful Population Health Outcomes” and “Healthcare, AI and Digital Technology”, moderated by Eric Ham, Morning News Anchor at Firstpost. The first panel session focused on the issue of population access to healthcare particularly rural communities, preventative care, whole-of-society approach, how AI has a role to target scarce resources, and patient centered approach. The second panel session centered around health diplomacy and the role of AI and digital technology in healthcare.
