NASSAU, Bahamas, November 25, 2019 – His Excellency Alejandro Garcia del Toro, Ambassador-Designate of the Republic of Cuba to the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, presented his Copie D’usage to Mr. Peter Deveaux Isaacs, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Monday, November 25, 2019.

Ambassador-designate Garcia del Toro replaces Ismara M. Vargas-Walter, who demitted office in October following a four-year stint as Cuban Ambassador to The Bahamas.

According to an October 19 article in the Nassau Guardian, former Ambassador Vargas-Walter said The Bahamas “has a special place in her heart, and she complimented the Bahamian government for its hardworking foreign service personnel who work tirelessly to foster diplomatic relations with other countries.”

She also expressed her gratitude that The Bahamas government has always showed respect for Cuba as a sovereign country, according to the Guardian’s article.
