CULTURAL FESTIVAL AMONG EVENTS HELD IN D.C. TO CELEBRATE THE BAHAMAS’ 50 TH ANNIVERSARY OF INDEPENDENCE

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 22, 2023 – I addition to the spectacular dinner held at The Kennedy Center on Friday, July 28 that was the highlight of events held by The Embassy of The Bahamas and the Embassy Consular Annex to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Bahamas’ attainment of independence from Great Britain, on Saturday July 29, The Bahamas Embassy Consular Annex partnered with NOVA BOSSA to put on a Bahamian Cultural Festival at La Cosecha, a contemporary marketplace and cultural embassy celebrating Latin American heritage in Washington, DC.

NOVA BOSSA is concept store that features slow fashion, beauty, and home décor brands from the Americas. The festival featured “All Things Bahamian”, with food by Bahamian Chef Waldron Knowles, musical performances by the Royal Bahamas Police Force Pop Band, and fashion, accessories, and art on display by three talented Bahamians, Apryl Jasmine, Patricia Chatti and Mario Smith.

Consul General Patrick Adderley brought special remarks, highlighting that Bahamian fashion, art and craft are central to The Bahamas’ cultural identity and have captured global recognition.
