NASSAU, Bahamas — Minister of Tourism and Aviation Dionisio D’Aguilar explained yesterday that the government has no choice but to purchase the Grand Lucayan hotel complex because it is “too important and too big to fail”, the Nassau Guardian reported September 21.
According to D’Aguilar, Grand Bahama-based entrepreneurs like those that have opened Pirate’s Cove Zip Line and Water Park, started an electric bike tour and conduct nature trail, kayaking and bird watching tours need the additional rooms that the Grand Lucayan will provide in order to grow and thrive.
“Grand Bahamians are stirring with entrepreneurial spirit,” he said.
D’Aguilar, who made these remarks in the House of Assembly yesterday, explained that these budding businesses are a large part of the reason the government has to purchase the Grand Lucayan and get it redeveloped and opened. https://thenassauguardian.com/2018/09/21/daguilar-grand-lucayan-too-big-to-fail/
