DAME JOAN SAYS SIR ROLAND BEYOND NATIONAL HERO

NASSAU, Bahamas — Challenging critics who have attacked Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis’ decision to name former premier the late Sir Roland Symonette a national hero, former Court of Appeal President Dame Joan Sawyer said Sir Roland was “beyond national hero” and “more in a sanctified situation”, the Nassau Guardian reported July 26.

Responding to a statement that Sir Roland presided over policies that facilitated segregation, Dame Joan said, “Excuse me, do not confuse his party’s policies.”

Dame Joan was on “Hit Back with Nahaja Black” on Star FM on Tuesday.

“What the heck does that have to do with the price of rice in China?” she asked. “…I told you that Sir Lynden [Pindling] was one of the best in the way that he dealt with himself. Sir Lynden and Sir Roland exhibited qualities of humility, which none of these persons now present in government seem to have imbued in them.” https://thenassauguardian.com/2018/07/26/dame-joan-sir-roland-beyond-natl-hero/
