NASSAU, Bahamas, July 25, 2019 — Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Leader Philip “Brave” Davis and Deputy Leader Chester Cooper will remain at the helm of the political party as both incumbents were unopposed during the nomination exercise at the party’s convention being held at the Melia Nassau Beach resort, both the Nassau Guardian and The Tribune reported in a “news update” on Thursday, July 25, 2019.
With the top posts sealed, all eyes will be on the race for chairman, which will see a rematch between Senator Fred Mitchell and former Tourism Minister Obie Wilchcombe. Mitchell and Wilchcombe were the only two candidates nominated. Delegates will vote tomorrow, the final day of convention, the Guardian reported.
The fact that both The Guardian and The Tribune were able to provide this “news update” so quickly on the same day of an event that would have ordinarily in the past not been reported in the print media until the following day is testament to the technological advancements that have been made in recent years in the news dissemination business in The Bahamas. Kudos to the editorial teams at both The Guardian and The Tribune.
