DIRECTOR OF LABOUR HOPES TO BRING RESOLUTION TO NURSES’ DISPUTE

Director of Labour John Pinder

NASSAU, Bahamas — Director of Labour John Pinder is hoping a planned intervention in the dispute between the Bahamas Nurses Union (BNU) and the Public Hospitals Authority (PHA) will bring resolution to the issue, the Nassau Guardian reported November  2.

The dispute is over a new shift system the PHA is instituting. The nurses’ union is adamant that nurses will not work the new system.

“I spoke with the nurses president today and I’m inviting her to a meeting next week,” Pinder told The Nassau Guardian. “She will give me a day when she’s available sometime next week, so we can sit down and discuss to see how I can intervene and try to bring some closure to the matter…I believe I may be able to bring some sort of recommendations to cause there to be some favorable resolution.”

Pinder said his knowledge about past agreements between the nurses and the PHA will be beneficial to the discussion. https://thenassauguardian.com/2018/11/02/director-of-labor-hopes-to-bring-resolution-to-nurses-dispute/
