DO NOT THROW AWAY YOUR C0NFIDENCE

God always knows what’s best for us 100% of the time, so we must learn to trust Him and not lean on our own understanding (Prov. 3:5) because God always has our best interests in mind and for His greater purposes, even when we don’t have the wisdom to recognize what that is.

EDITOR’S NOTE: I saw this excellently written commentary posted on Facebook on Wednesday, July 6, by Carmel Cox that I had to share with readers of BAHAMAS CHRONICLE. I do not know if she is the author of this superb literary piece because at the end of it, copyright attribution is given to Pastor Dr Barbara Ambrister Ministry Intl ©. In any case, it is a beautifully written commentary.)

GUEST COMMENTARY: BY CARMEL COX

NASSAU, Bahamas, July 6, 2022 — Something better. Good morning, Chosen. As I watched him walk away from a pretty enjoyable vacation, I asked myself, “How could you walk away from something so good?” Immediately, the Holy Spirit replied, “Because what he is going to, he sees it as better!”

CARMEL COX

This conversation allowed me to let go finally. We are often replaced by things, people, and ideologies that are simply superior to our present person, existence or lifestyle. Coming face to face with this life-changing event often steals our self-esteem and identity, placing us in reaction and radical mode. However, after a while, with the right coaching, we may retrieve our self-worth and begin to live again, seeking better for ourselves.

Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering. Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. Hebrews 10:32-35 NIV

It is easy to become bogged down in the issues of today; after all, it is all we know. Nonetheless, if we could only make each day our best day with all its hurt and pain, we eventually find ourselves stronger, wiser and possessing qualities that we did not know we had. Everything in life is what we make it. The law of detachment tells us not to hold onto anything and allow it to function in its moment. But, can we do it when what is required is for us to watch what we love leave us? It happens every day, but we cling all the more. Sadly, we do not build relationships with the knowledge that leaving is a part of living; nothing remains the same forever. I live by a principle, whatever goes or is taken from me has completed its season and job in my life. I must then move forward, preparing for my better.

Yahweh, you saw that what we possessed in the law was insufficient (Hebrews 8:6). Hence, you sent your only son to make a new covenant that would fill the gaps (Hebrews 8:7-8). Your wisdom and progressive spirit continue to sustain us in every age and stage of our lives (Ephesians 1:9-10). Please help us to understand our seasons. Help us not become embittered by life’s disappointments and hardships (Acts 8:23) but remain focused on your promise to renew us daily (2 Corinthians 4:16). Thank you for your restoring power, which continues to build in us the character of Jesus the Christ (Romans 8:29). We know that you have heard and have answered our prayers.
