DPM COOPER VISITS COLLEGE FAIR HOSTED BY NAD

NASSAU, Bahamas, Sept. 8, 2023 — Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper, who is also Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, on Thursday, September 7, visited the College Fair hosted by Nassau Airport Development (NAD) for the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) Community at New Providence Community Centre, Blake Road.

A total of 32 local and international institutions of higher education as well as the Ministry of Education Scholarship Division participated in the College Fair, which was held for staff members who wish to pursue higher education.

“The College Fair supports the recently launched Bahamas National Aviation Strategic Plan as announced by Deputy Prime Minister Cooper,” said Dr. Kenneth Romer, Director of Aviation and Deputy Director General of Tourism. “One of the key broad goals, focuses on the Development of Human Capital and ongoing Employee Engagement.”

Dr. Romer added, “We are continuously exploring and making available training and scholarship opportunities that will equip Aviation Stakeholders and their families with the necessary skills to advance their personal academic pursuits, professional growth and overall organizational development.

“This College Fair attracted partnering Universities from The Bahamas, Jamaica, Grenada, Canada and The United States and specifically targeted employees from across the various Aviation Agencies along with their children in grades 10-12. It speaks to our unified and collaborative focus as an Aviation Family. We applaud NAD’s CEO and President Vernice Walkine and her organizing team lead by Charlotte Knowles-Thompson for executing a hugely successful event.”
